Intermittent faults, tracked down properly
The worst faults come and go. A machine cuts out over bumps, a warning light flickers, a starter clicks once and then works fine. Guessing at those means replacing parts until the problem goes quiet, and it usually comes back.
We start with the operator: when it happens, how often, hot or cold, wet or dry. Then we test the circuit under load, check earths and connectors, and move the wiring while we watch the readings. Plenty of these faults come down to a chafed wire, a corroded plug or a loose earth. There's more in our guide to intermittent electrical faults.
Charging, starting and flat batteries
A vehicle that won't start costs you the operator, the job and the morning. We test batteries, alternators, starter motors, isolators and the heavy cabling between them on 12 V and 24 V systems, and fix whatever is letting you down.
Batteries that go flat over a weekend often have something drawing power with the key off. It might be an accessory wired straight to the battery, a relay that sticks or a module that never goes to sleep. We measure the draw and trace it, instead of just fitting another battery.
On machinery, a tired isolator or a corroded main earth can stop a starter turning while looking perfectly fine. We test them under load rather than by eye.
Lighting, accessories and new machine set-up
Work lights, beacons, reversing alarms, cameras and power outlets all need clean power, proper fusing and switching that makes sense to the operator. We repair what's there and wire in what's missing.
A new machine usually needs a few extras before it starts work. Tell us your site's requirements and we'll wire the accessories in neatly, so the machine is ready for its first shift.
Wiring repairs that hold up
Chafed looms, corroded connectors, water in plugs and rodent damage are everyday faults on trucks and plant. We repair them with sealed joins, re-route the wiring away from whatever wore it through, and protect the run properly.
When a loom is too far gone to repair, we can build a new one. Our custom braided harnesses are made to suit the machine, with a quick turnaround.
One call, and someone actually turns up
When no one else will show up, we will. As a mobile auto electrician, we come to your depot, yard or site across Newcastle, the Hunter and the Central Coast.
We also do AC, so you're not juggling one contractor for the fleet aircon and another for the wiring. One number covers both.
